Basic Types Of PVC Pipe Fittings

Spread the love

The PVC pipe fittings are a critical part of every constructed structure. They have endless application s in our lives and without them, we will be unable to control the flow of liquids in residential, commercial or industrial properties. PVC pipe fittings have to make our life easier and more organized. It helps to dispose of the hazardous waste in industry and can allow the access of flowing liquids in buildings.

But PVC pipe is not a single unit whereas it is fabricated with numerous PVC fittings having different shapes and sizes as per their application.

Here we will discuss some of these PVC fittings as per their shape and application.

90-degree Elbow

It is one of the most common fittings. It can help to change direction. Elbow can turn left, right, down or up. They are further classified as per their application into following

Long Radius Elbow-

Short Radius Elbow

Reducing Elbow

Mitered Elbow

45 Degree Elbow

This 45-degree elbow is very important, it is used to make changes in direction within the piping system. This can be said as the one-half of 90-degree elbow

TEE

This is the fitting used for three-way fitting, making the perpendicular connection to a pipe. Line duct connects with the main pipe and the other two openings are called branches where further pipe fitting can be connected.

There are further two types of Tee;

Equal TEE: All the pipe opening have same diameters

Reducing TEE: One opening size is less than other branches. It is mostly used to reduce the flow of liquid

Reducers

Reducers play very critical rule especially when one has to connect to different sizes of pipes. For example, if the pipe has a diameter of one inch but now it has to be connected with another pipe having a diameter of half an inch. Then reducer will have one opening with one diameter and another opening with half diameter. It is very critical to make a connection between two different sized piping systems. Sometimes also helpful to connect the old piping system with a new piping system.

Bends

Bends are made with seamless pipes and they are also used for changing direction. Their shapes can be made as per their application for example 90 degree bend, Returning U Band, etc

Cross

Cross is also known as four-way fitting. It is somehow similar to TEE but it has four openings, so create the intersection of four pipes. It has one inlet and three outlets. This fitting is very common in plumbing.

Here we discussed some of the basic PVC pipe fittings Australia which have diversified applications in our lives. But designing a piping system needs technical knowledge and understanding of liquid density. PVC is not suitable for all types of liquids, so these fitting can be made other materials like rubber, metal, etc. But in household PVC is the top contender for pipe fittings.
